GONVILLE FIRE BRIGADE.
MUNICIPAL BRIGADE FORMED. A GOOD RESPONSE. ”t-i> launching of the Gonville Municipal Fire Brigade was successfully accomplished last evening. In response to the Board’s call for volunteers, fourteen fine recruits reponded. The officials were highly gratified but they still want four more in order that the Brigade can ,e organised to the wishes of the ew superintendent. However, fourteen is a splendid start, while two others of the old brigade have in•imated that they will join up today. Included in the fourteen are several members of the old Volunteer ’’•rigade. The Board has appointed Mr Allpress, who has been 13 years in the Brigade, to be deputy superintendent, and Mr T. Anderson, baths custodian, is to be foreman, a position he has previously satisfactorily filled. The Board will have accommodation at the station ready to-night for at least five single men. The Brigade being now duly formed has entered into possession and anyone other than members of the Municipal Brigade is warned against interfering with the plant or watermains. As there are still a few vacancies pn the roll, any members of the old Brigade wishing to volunteer should do so at once.
