GARRISON BAND RECITAL.
The Garrison Band seem fated ta have bad weather for their concerts, and last night’s recital proved no exception. Despite this fact, there w.is at the Opera House a fairly large audience, who appeared pleased at being present to hear what proved to be an except iomili'y fine programme. Miss Gladys Gamman, who kindly came from Marton at considerable inconvenience, » received a well merited recall for a V monologue, “The Last Token, ’’ and her / fine effort added still further to her reputation as an elocutionist of more than average ability. Mr Trevor Thomas was very successful with his solo, ‘’Mountain Ixyvers,” and received a recall, which lie kindly gave. The accompaniments were ably played by Miss E. Bignell and Miss N. Gamman. The Band items deserved the hearty reception given them. Conductor Wade is certainly showing remarkable training ability in working the Band up to give so fine a performance with only a fortnight’s rehearsals. The selection “Gems of Wagner” showed great artistry. The next recital will be given on Sunday week.
