THE GRAND. MATINEE TO-DAY AT 1 P.M. This afternoon’s programme is sure to be popular with the young folk and adults. Something to please everybody is included in t’he bill of fare. The Educational Review shows a very clever vaudeville turn, in vv’hich performing parrots, rabbits and a trick dog take part. The Gaumont Graphic is very interesting ami is full of latest picture news from at home and abroad. The popular serial, "The Man of Might,” is showing in its 12th chapter. The starpicture, “Social Ambition,” is a story of the gold rush in Alaska, and is well worth seeing. To-night, with the exception of "The Man of Might,” a complete change will be presented. The star picture will be the great Broadway comedy, “Please Get Married.” GARDEN FETE IN AID OF RARITAN E HOME. The garden fete to be held at the redenoe of Mr John Stevenson next Saturday (13th inst.) promises to- be a great success. Large quantities of produce, plain and fancy goods will be on sale at the various stalls. Amongst other attractions there will be a tulip garden, bran tub and severai side shows. A tennis tournament is being held in connection with the fete. The Queen Alexandra Band are very kindly providing the music. Afternoon tea can be purchased on the grounds and for which the committee would be very pleased to receive donations of cakes, etc. In the evening a concert and outdoor dance will be held on the croquet lawn, the charge for which will be —Men’s tickets 3s, and ladies’ tickets Is and supper. GARRISON BAND MUNICIPAL CONCERT. To-morrow afternoon the public will have an opportunity- of hearing the Garrison Band give another of their popular open air concerts in the rotunda. commencing at 3 o’clock. The music given by the band is invariably of a high standard, and to-morrow's programme will doubtless prove no exception to the rule, as some delightful numbers are included. Given fine weather a large attendance of the public may bs expected. MISS CECILY TABOR’S RECITAL. Theatre-goers are reminded of the spectacular performance which will be produced at the Opera House on Wednesday next. Miss Tabor will present a delightful and varied programme. In addition Mr H. Melville will support the company with new local talent, also new and special scenery. It is the intention of this combination to produce, frequently, first class entertainments at popular prices, and to hand all cash, after expenses, to deserving funds, and at the same time to bring out promising talent in music, song, and dance. Rehearsals will soon start for the local pantomime, “Sinbad the Sailor,” the proceeds of which will be for the Technical College Memorial Hall. The sale held in St. Paul’s Hall on Thursday by the St. Paul’s Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union realised oveh £l5O. This includes the takings at the Oriental work stall and the Christmas tree and bookstall of the Young Women’s Bible Class. The proceeds will be devoted to various mission causes, with special consideration for Home Missions.
