BRITISH MINERS RESUMING,
Received Nov. 5, 7.20 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 4
There has been a partial resumption of collieries, but there are not likely to be complete renewals before next week.
MANY DISTRICTS HOLD OFF TILL MONDAY. WOULD-BE STRIKERS RESENTFUL. Received Nov. 5. 8.10 p.m. LONDON. Nov. 5. Work has been partially resumed at the collieries, but. many districts are not resuming until Monday, as a protest against the delegates’ conference calling off the strike. Resentment in Lanarkshire found vent in scenes of w’ild disorder. At Hamilton, near Mr. Smillie’s residence at Larkhill, a crowd of young miners gathered at the miners’ headquarters and demanded to see the leaders. They then raided the building and the staff fled. The police intervened. The crowd indulged in stone-throwing, window - smashing and looting shops. Similar disturbances occurred in two other mining towns in the district.
