BRITISH MINING TROUBLE.
RESULT OF THE BALLOT. Received Nov. 4, 8.30 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 4. The Yorkshire miners, by two to one, voted for acceptance of the agreement; Lancashire by five to one against; South Wales by nine to five against. STRIKE DECLARED OF. MEN ADVISED TO RESUME IMMEDIATELY. Received Nov. 4. 8.30 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 4. The executive met late this afternoon to receive full reports. Mr. Smillie pointed out that under the constitution of the Miners’ Federation a two-thirds majority was necessary for continuance of a strike. The complete figures for the offer were: 338,045, and against 346,504. A long discussion followed, and a resolution was adopted that in view of the above-mentioned rule the strike be declared oft and the men advised to resume work to-morrow, or as soon as possible.
