IRISH CRISIS.

MURDER OF CONSTABULARY. AN INTENSIVE CAMPAIGN. I 17 KILLED AND 17 WOUNDED. THIS WEEK’S COLD-BLOODED MURDER. Received Nov. 4. 8 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 4. ' An intensive campaign of murder .against the Irish Constabulary since ■ Sunday has already resulted in ! seventeen being killed, seventeen wounded and at least seventy being ’ fired at. The outrages have been I spread over a wide area and are of ia most cold-blooded character. For : instance, Constable Maxwell went ; into a public-house with a friend. . Four masked men followed and shot j the constable dead. Seven men ; were present, none of whom raised a i hand to defend the constable. Constable McCarthy went for a I cycle ride. His body was found i stuck into a drain stripped practically naked. | Sergeant Fulton was killed in the j streets of Ballymote. He was suri rounded by a dozen, who fired a numj ber of shots at short range, and who j then escaped by mingling with the I crowd in the street. It is believed in some quarters that the Irish people sympathise l with the murder campaign, which is so embittering the Constabulary and j soldiers and increasing reprisals. I Though the murders must be known i to scores of people, none assist the ! police to track the murderers or warn i the police of danger.
