As a result of their recent bazaar the pupils of Clifton House School are forwarding the sum of £7 3 8/6 to Dr. Barnado’s Homes.
Mr. Louis Cohen left for 'Wellington yesterday en route to Christchurch to attend a meeting of the N.Z. Trotting Council. The death occurred recently at Manchester, England, of Mr Alexander Owen, the noted bandmaster and conductor of. the Besses-o’-the-Barn Band which toured New Zealand several years back. A private letter from Melbourne records the death in that city of Mr W. P. Turner, for many years a popular comedian with the English Pierrots. Mr Turner was with the Pierrots in New Zealand a few weeks ago, when he was suffering from influenza. The cause of death was heart failure.
