GONVILLE TOWN BOARD.
USUAL MEETING. The Gonville Town Board met Last evening. There were present Cmrs. N. F. Svenson (chairman), C. Pearce, A. E. Marchant, A. E. Allpress, W. Willis, and J. C. Arnold. There was some discussion over the question of mains for Ire fighting purposes at the Nurses’ Home and the Hospital. II was decided tc. write to the Hospital Board stating that the cheaper method would be to get the Borough Council Io do th< work. The Technical College Committee wrote soliciting a contribution from the Board towards the Memorial Hall to be erected in honour of the School Old Boys who fell in the war. —lt was decided that, as the Board was already pledged to support th« district memorial scheme, no assistance could be granted. The question of flooding in properties on Totara Street and the adjoining streets was introduced lithe chairman. —It was considered that drainage in the vicinity of Fii> Herbert Av.enue would solve the problem, and it was decided that the work should be undertaken as soon as possible, probably during the summer. It was decided to have the Board’” road map in the meeting room brought up to date for reference pur poses. The chairman reported that arrangements had been made to g**' supplies of road metal from Kakitriki. Tift Engineer (Mr G. A. Mellon aid) reported that Gonville Avenue footpaths had been completed, am Puriri Street was being widened. Tin* new road roller was doing gem work. Eleven water connections hat been installed, the average dal!' water pressure being 931bs l»-t square inch. Seven building permits of a total value of £7o7o,jiad been issued in October. ▼
