AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC.

TO-NIGHT. Mr William Bra<Uey, who is to conduct a series of special meetings in Wanganui tins week, arrived yesterday morning, and was heartily welcomed by members of the Bradley United Committee which has the local arrangements in hand. In the evening an informal meeting was arranged at the Y.M.C.A. to' Air Bradley to renew acquaintances with several friends and well-wishers, a picasand and helpful time being spent. Mr Bradley indicated that the meetings just concluded in Auckland and Hamilton were remarkably successful, and his efforts had been heartily appreciated and well supported. In Auckland he had shaken hands with 7<X> who thanked I him for his efforts in their midst. He expressed his pleasure at being back in Wanganui, and of having an opportunity of conducting the series of meetings which had been arranged for him m this large centre. He had every hope that with their help and their prayers a great season of blessing would come upon the community. Mr Bradley commences his campaign in earnest to-day. Thanks to the kind assistance of the railway Authorities, he is being given an opportunity of addressing the men of the Eastown Railway Workshops during lunch hour. At 3.4 i) a civic reception will be tendered to Mr Bradley at the Borough Counctf Chambers in token of appreciation of his constructive war work in Egypt and to which all interested are invited to be present. Through his work among the soldiers Mr Bradley’s name is quite a household word in many homes. At 4 I o'clock a business men's tea will be held by the executive in Dustin’s rooms, to which have been invited representatives of various local bodies, the clergy, medical profession, and others: it is hoped to have a pleasant gathering. In the evening a lantern lecture ‘‘ Palestine and the Land of the Pharoahs’’ will be given by Air Bradley in the Opera House at 8 o’clock, to be preceded by a hall-Hour’s saig-song. The lecture is reported to be very interesting, particularly on account of the fact that many of our soldiers were quartered in parts which the lecturer will be a’ble to give interesting information upon. As one newspaper commented, “ho knows his slides alright.’’ 7 There is no charge for admission, and no collection. But an opportunity will be given of contributing to the expenses per medium of boxes placed at the doors. Air Bradley receives any balance remaining after all local expenses are met. The public are asked to note the meetings, and all who are anxious that a definite good may come upon, the community, are asked to work and pray for its suc-c-iess.
