AMERICAN MEAT PACKERS

PROTEST AGAINST LICENSING THEM. (Per Press Association.) GISBORNE, August 2. At a large meeting of farmers and ethers, held under the auspices of the Farmers’ Union, the following resolution was passed:—“This public meeting of farmers, called under the auspices of the Poverty Bay Farmers’ Union, desires to record approval of a resolution adopted at the recent Dominion Conference of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, protesting against the Government allowing Messrs Armour & Co. and Vesty Bros, to operate in connection with the freezing industry of this Dominion, and this meeting respectfully requests the Government ‘o take immediate steps to prevent these firms from further operating.”
