LONDON, June 12. The final meeting of the Imperial Entomological Conference passed a resolution in favour of holding a similar conference in London every five years. It established the Imperial Bureau of Entomology on a permanent basis, recommending that the contributory Governments should guarantee contributions and the provision of a total income of £3OOO sterling. The News of the World states that Mr. Watt’s resignation was due to the discovery that Mr. Hughes had not communicated to him the contents of the cablegrams between Mr. Hughes and the Imperial Government regarding the wool question. The National News states that a private meeting of employers in the engineering trades, held at Edinburgh, decided to resist all demands for further increases in wages, and to close down all works, creating a gigantic lock-out, unlesss the latest demands are withdrawn, DELHI, June 11. W’ustroff, German Consul at Tabriz, is reported to have committed suicide during the recent revolution, after turning machine-guns on the crowd. He was well known to the Indian Foreign Political Department. He was a German, not a Russian, and distributed arms and money freely with the object of fomenting trouble on the frontiers. PARIS, June 12. General Essad Pasha, ex-Dictator of Albania, and head of the Albanian Delegation to Paris, was shot dead by an Albanian youth outside his hotel. The assailant,, when arrested, said he acted upon a sudden impulse owing to the sufferings of the Albanians in Constantinople. VIENNA, June 12. Chancellor Renner has resigned with Social Democratic members from the Coalition Government, owing to acute differences with Christian Socialists, who threatened to leave the Coalition. The Lokal Anzeiger states that Ebert will not seek re-election as President, owing to opposition of his own party. On Mueller declaring he would be unable to form a Cabinet Ebert asked Dr. Heinze, chairman of the People’s Party, to form a ministry. The “Tageblatt” says that Dr. Heinze strenuously opposed the Kapp coup, and is more suitable to fill the role of mediator than most of his party friends. SYDNEY, June 14. Heavy falls of rain are still recorded in the Western District. It is now stated that the drought has definitely broken. The wheat position is serious. Practically all the mills are closed. The Government is again seeking the assistance of Victoria. The Labour Conference passed a resolution expressing hostility to Imperial Federation, and objected to Lord Milner receiving a Queensland deputation opposed to Queensland legislation, as it challenges the underlying principle of Australia’s self-governing powers. The Labour Conference passed a resolution in favour of compulsory voting at State and Federal elections. ROME, June 13. Advices from Tangiers state that after several years of intermittent fighting and serious losses, the French authorities have secured the submission of the powerful Zain tribesmen inhabiting the western slopes of the lesser Atlas. Great reconciliation fetes were held where tribesmen restored captured trophies. The submission opens an important direct route from Fez to Marrakesh.
