WELLINGTON, December 8
The westerly ]jpw pressure which culminated during the week-end, and strong west and south-west winds, have prevailed. Rain has fallen in Westland and Otago, and has been reported to-day along the east coast of the South Island. Elsewhere, though dull and threatening at times, the weather has generally been fair and dry. Present indications are for strong to south-east winds and unsettled cloudy misty and colder weather generally, with rain in many parts. Barometer fall further in the far north, but rising elsewhere.
