ARMISTICE DAY.
CHILDREN'S PEACE DEMON-
STRATION,
There was an exceptionally well attended meeting of teachers and school committee members at the Technical College last night to make arrangements for the Children's Peace Day demonstration on November 11.
It was decided that the children should gather at the drill hall and proceed to the racecourse, where there will be a short memorial service and during the day entertainment, games, and refreshments.
Last night sub-committees were set up as follows: —Sports, refreshments, finance, grounds. The children will be in charge of the respective schools' staffs and committees and it is expected about 4000 children will attend.
It was decided to ask the Borough Council to assist with the transport of the children to the drill shed and to their homes.
It was resolved to ask Mr G. Spriggens to act as marshal of the procession.
It was decided to ask the Mayor to proclaim a holiday.
The returned soldiers will be asic ed to participate.
A large number of details were discussed and further arrangements will be made at another meeting next Saturday evening.
