BOXING.
WANGANUI AMATEUR TOUR-
NEY
The tournament to be held in the Opera House on Wednesday evening promises to be very successful. In addition to the "try-out" contests to be held, three special matches have been arranged, and these are expected to prove very interesting. The star item will be the contest between C. Cann and A. C. Venus, who are both in splendid fettle and sure to put up a most exciting go. Each man has many supporters, and the general opinion is that the six rounds "will be very evenly contested. A Lee and J. Cann can also be depended upon to put up a very attractive display, and the bout between Reg. Phillips and .11. Darby will be another interesting one. Those engaged in the try-outs are all reported to be in excellent, trim, and the winners will be hard to pick.
The night's programme should be a very fine one, and doubtless there will be a large attendance of spectators, as there are not wanting signs. that the revival of interest in boxing has extended to Wanganui. All members of the Association who have not deceived their tickets may obtain*same after 7.30 o'clock on Wednesday evening from the treasurer at the Opera House office.
