AUCKLAND, Sept. 12

The five-masted schooner, Laurel Whalen, which was laid up at Auckland over six months for repairs to the auxiliary machinery, arrived at Papeete from this port on August 25th in distress, having sustained considerable damage to her sails. The cylinders were broken and oil [fuel short, while the captain was ! laid up with a broken ankle. As ! the result of a survey, it was decided that the vessel required new pumps and new cylinders from New Zealand, and new canvas, which will will involve a two months' delay.
