At the Council Chambers this mqr«« ing a conference of representatives of various local bodies in Ha-wkes Bay waai held at the invitation of the Mayor 10 consider question of trying to persuade tho Government to undertake immecliately the xvork of harnessing Waikaremoana for the supply of eWvjtriwu «r ergy. The following resolution was carried unanimously:— "That this meeting; work in with the League in sending a strong deputation to Wellington, anrl failing the Government commencing work as a national scheme in conjunction with the other proposals of tjie Hawkes Bay County Coucil, to take advantage of Local Power Boards Act.,,
