PARORANGI SECOND ANNUAL HEREFORD SALE.
Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmer&ton North, in conjunction with Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., held this fixture lon account of Mr Ernest Short, at the FeiMing saleyarcls on Thursday last, when. tJiere was a large and representative attendance of buyers. The cows, which were in good order, met with very fair competition, but a | number of the bulls were in low condition, and this, combined with the great shortage of feed had a depressing effect, with the result that tfie competition for the majority of the bulls was not at all keen, and quite a number failed to change hands. Ihe cattle were dispersed throughout the Dominion. The following are quotations*.— Lower, grade covrs realised from 15 to 80 gns: others from 36 to 45 gns; while the best prices ranged at 60, 68, 75 to 84 gns. The buyers of the al>ove were: Messrs J. Wells, Oxford; H. Bunu, Oxford; Leahy Bros., Waitotara; Bailey Bros., Kai Iwi: D. McKenzie, Masterton: E. Smith, Te Puke; Gordon Durrant, Taihape; W. Laidlaw, Central Otago; J. King, Invercargill; J. K. Laird. Waverloy; W. K. Morton, Silverhope; (i. Wheeler, Taihape; T. F. Walker, Wairoa; J. Forbes, Norraanby; R. O. French, Cunningham's; A. G. Riches, Tauraarunui; W. R. Hunt, Nelson; R. E. Jefferson. Wairoa; W. Dixon, Taihape; .1. H. McLean, Marton. Stud bulls realised 30, 40, 50, &5, 82, 90, to 125 gns; the last two being purchased respectively by Mr R. E., Jefferson, Wairoa, and Mr J. Forbes, Normnnby. Tho run bulls realised 25, 30, 35 to 40 gns. Aged stud Romney ewes to the number of 195 were also offered, and sold in lots, trhich realised 1£ gns., 3$ gns., to 41 gns.
