BOY SCOUTS' CAMP.

INSTRUCTION AND CONSTRUC-

TION

At. the Scouvs' camp, yesterday was a day of instruction construction, and spor" instruction in swimming, and those boys who were not proficient in the natatorial art were coached. Squads were later on told off to build .a bridge, a hu-t, and a camp kitch mi and oven. There erections were satisfactorily accomplished and will b e op^n for inspection "this afternoon betSveen 2.30 and 4.30 p.m., when visitors, parents, and friends are invited. The Scout Mistress, Miss Wilson, of Bulls. Provincial Secretary, and tbe Rev. D. Campbell, will act as host', and hostess and afternoon tea will be provided.

Yesterday afternoon wa,« spent . by the miniature soldiers at the Caledonian Sports, and tLe evening at ihe Highland Concert. To-day will be spent in instructive and recreative pursuits ait Castle-cliff. Strange as it may seem, some of heyo#n£ militarists "have never seen 'he *ea, and others have never seen a tram car, so that their knowledge and experience will hs c-onsidprl -- extended. In tbe evening they wil lbe enter tain■tairied by Mr Bert Gray, ventriloquist, from' 7.30 to 8.45 p.m., and parents and frietids are cordially invited. General relief will be felt by the public when it is staved 'that the lost, cow has been found, and that she was bailed and milked- last night, and was none tne worse for her wanderings. The Commissioner desires 'to acknowledge with thanks ih c receip of Hhe following gifts: —Jam: Mrs Ambrose, Mrs Birrell, Mrs Rarkingj and "Anonymous" ; cakes, buns., and plum pudding : Mrs Smith, Mrs Laing, Miss 'Bf.yley and Mis 3 Purneu; vegetables, Mrs Laing, Ngan Kee and Co., and Co., and 49 Hatrick Street; eggs : Mrs J B. Williams and Mrs Boyd; fruit: Mrs Campbel land "Anonymous": one fat. sheep'each: Mrs DuUhieand Mr ftChamberlain, Ma;tahiwi, Mrs Davidson and Mr R. A. Burnett of ?*. John's Hill; H.
