PROTESTANT POLITICAL ASSOCIATION.

CROWDED MEETING AT

ARAMOHO

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Aramoho branch oi: the P.P.A. eventuated on Tuesday evening, when the building was crowded to its fullest capacity. The musical part of the programme -was given by a party of ten juveniles and several adults, whose efforts were much appreciated by' the large audience. A stirring and instructive address was delivered, those present showing their approval by frequnet applause. The matter of the failure of the press to send by Press Associaition message, the important resolutions passel by meetings consisting of several thousands of cieizens at Auckland and elsewhere, while it gave the fullest publicity to the Government's explanation of its actions, was the subject of strong condon was carried unanimously: "That this crowded meeting of members of the Aramoho Branch of the P.P.A. records its indignation at the action of the Press Association in suppressing important resolutions by huge meetings of the Association relative to the atcionsl' of the Government, while the Government's explanations are given full publicity. The fact that minor resolutions passed by small meetings of trades unions are Press Associationert indicates that the Association is for some reason hostile' to the P.P.A., which fact is deplored by this branch."

The Failure of the Government to carry out its own regulations by sending into camp those single eligibles, who have been called up by ballot, and who have not been exempted by the Appeal Boards, was also the subject of very caustic criticism, the opinion being expressed that the Government that allowed a small section of the community to dare it to put its own regulations into force was not likely to long retain the confidence of a majority |of the electors. The feeling of the [meeting found expression in the following resolution, which was carried unanimously: "That the P.P.A. call upon the Government to impartially and fearlessly administer the .Military Service Act by immediately sending to camp all eligible single men. including priest? and Marist Brothers who have been passed as medically fit, and that . all threats of violence and resistance to service, whether made by representatives of the Roman Catholic Church as a body, or by individuals be drastically dealt with by the Go- j vernment."
