A FINE EFFOKT

A very fijio effort was made yesterday on behalf of the "Our Day" appeal by the Gonville ladies and school children oi' that district, with the as-sis-auce of their teachers. The, .sum of £90 os 3d was realised, with an additional amount of about £5 in payment tor eggs still to come in. Great ciedit is due to those ladies who organised tne day, and a special word oi: praise .sliould bo given to the children for the whole-hearted manner in which tliey entered the work. Without the hep of any big cheques, but by real liard work, they gave a practical demonstration of what can be done oy united efforts of staff and pupils. The Gonville School Band, the appeal songs, and the dressing of the soldier, were particularly efforts of the children, and the public again responded handsomely to as-.si^t tlie worthy cause.
