FOR MINE-SWEEPERS.

THE CENTRAL W.C.T.U. SALE OF

WORK

The Sale of Work for the Minesweepers was held by the W.C.T.U. on Saturday afternoon. There was a splendid attendance of the public. Mr McCaul declared t,he bazaar open.

The Central W.C.T.U. had three stalls: Work Stall, Mesdames Dunstall, Upton and Mara; Cake Stall, Miss Brechin, assisted by Mrs T. C. Taylor: Produce Stall, Mesdames W. Grant and Hallam; Sailor Dressing, managed by Mrs Bott. Refreshments were in the capable hands of Miss Ballantine, assisted by Misses Roberts, Hogg, Hallam, West and Mrs Murray. The Wanganui J's had the Sweets and Flower Stall. Mrs R. Smith (president) was in charge, assisted by Misses Spurdle, Jarvis, Colenran, Smith, Keyuolds, and Chishofm. These attendants wore a touch of yellow, which gave good effect. This stall also had a Fancy Bag Competition, and did splendid business. The Aramoho J's stall was in charge of Mrs Dathgatc (president), the assistants being Misses Campbell, Hendry, Garner, Cunliffe, Anderson and Smith. Most of these were dressed to represent America. Miss A. White had a laundry basket, filled with all laundry necessaries, from a. washboard to a modest blue bag. Miss Nevrsome acted a.s a "lady holder,1' being dressed all over with "kettle holders." This stall had a splendid assortment of plain and fancy needlework. A lady during the afternoon presented a beautiful gold bangle as a personal gift to be sold for the Mine-sweepers' Fund. The Wanganui East Orchestra gave some very fine selections during the j evening, also Mrs Crabb, Mr Honey- I comb, and two Maori friends also j sang. !

Altogether the Mine-sweepers' Sale of Work was a bright and profitable function, and realised a substantial sum, for which all interested wish to thank those who attended, and bought goods, and also who gave so freely and willingly to help make it such a- success.
