To-day (Wednesday), the 2nd inst., the Patriotic Red Cross Shop (next Bank of New South Wales) will tie open in charge of the Gonville ladies, and various stalls will be situated in the Avenue, stocked with useful and necessary goods. A fine supply <f eggs, produce, home-made bread, cakes and sweets should find a ready sale. The children of Gonville School, under the direction of Mr. Bowater, headmaster, will supply one stall, and the boys' band will parade at intervals during the day. The cooking competitions should bring good entries. Each class will be awarded a prize, and all goods must become the property of the committee. Entries must be in not later than 10 a.m. on Wednesday. All funds are in aid of the "Our Day" special appeal.
Following are the competitions: Sponge sandwich, shortbread, gingerbread, billy bread, biscuits, sausage rolls, jam tarts. Entry is free. All goods become the property of the committee, to be sold for the benfiet of the Red Cross.
