Now, I've travelled round this cVjeof ours, and seen a thing or two, And I've just one little incident to introduce to .you. 'Twas at Colombo, in Ceylon, a tea-shop I espied, Through curiosity and thirst 1 wandered right; inside. : A motley congregation spread itself before mine eye, Representing every nation one cruld think of 'neath the skj. There were Hindu, Chinese, .Japanese. Arab, Ituss, and Yank, 'Midst the din of mixing Jingoes, bowls of steaming tea they drank* I'd been soldiering in Egypt, and had just come off the boat, And remembrances or' deserts brought a parching of the throat. And I thought some lubrication would be just -the thing for me, So I sorted out a - nigger, ordered food and steaming tea. With due salaaming a most delightful beverage -was brought;' It was golden brown in colour, and :n me inspired a thought That if I could get a sample to tiike baels to old Noo Zee, I would surely make a pile by selling Ceylon's Purest Tea. I hustled round, inquired a bit for £n.de and price and such, . And obtained spate information that-to me was purest Dutch, For until 1 landed in Ceylon, I mu«t confess to you, ' :. He listened to my tale awhile, then quietly said to me, "Old son, you've got a lot to learn ere you start selling tea.
