BRILLIANT FRENCH SUCCESS.
VALUABLE POINTS CAPTURED.
Received 1.5 a.m., Oct. 11.
LONDON, Oct. 10. A French communique says: Our attack launched this morning developed brilliantly. The troops, after crossing the marshy brook at Broenbeek, carried with 'admirable dash, on a front of 250 metres, the enemy's defences. Despite the difficulties of the ground and Ilie bad weather we captured the villages of St. Jean, MangeWe, Veldhoek, and numerous farms organised aa blockhouses. The advance, which averaged two kilometres, brought us to the southern fringe of Houthulst Wood. The air service, despite the gale, cooperated actively in the attack, mach-ine-gunning at a low altitude enemy infantry and maintaining touch with, other arms. The number of prisoners so far counted is 300, of whom 12 are ofheers.
