WATERSIDERS' STRIKE.

„. -.■■-.■■■■..^.■.ni.,- ■ - WELLINGTON, August 20. A deputation from the Waterside Workers 5 Federation waited upon the Minister of Marine (the Hon. G. W; Russell) to-day to urge that more extensive powers be granted to inspectors with ji view to preventing accidents. It I was pointed out ,that there were 246 accidents in Wellington last year among 1500 members. Many of the accidents were unavoidable* but more supervision was wanted. The Minister replied that if the Waterside Unions supplied him with lists of accidents ho would have them checked so as to trace who was responsible for them.
