Tait attraction for iyi7 is Mr Lawrence Campbell, th,e elocutionist and entertainer, who visited the Dominion some years ago, and who on this tour will give a series of recitals of C. J. Dennis's Australian character study in verse, "The Sientimcntal Bloke," which has been widely read in the Commonwealth and in New Zealand and has found a place in the public and private libraries throughout the British Empire. The "Bloke," named Bill, a larrikin and a member of push society, who is as delightfully quaint in manner and speech as he is in his worldly philosophy, after many love affairs meets his affinity in one -Dbreeir," and after a courtship full of episodes and the introduction cf many finely drawn characters the two are married. The ■ story is a' fascinating one, and lends itself to the elocutionist, and as interpreted by Mr Campbellit js said to make an almost ideal entertainmont. made up of matter both grave and gay. ;; The Sentimental Bloke is presented by Mr Campbell in a series of monologues or songs, and it is claimed for the performance that during the whole two hours it contains not one. dull moment. The Wanganui season i? limited to two nights, and tlie first recital will be given at the Opera House on Friday, the 9th inst. Ihebox plan is now open at Jones and Son s, where seats may be reserved.
