An open letter (previously published) was received by the Gonville Town Board last night from Mr. C. H..B'urnefct.in regard to the Castlecliff Railway. The Chairman suggested that M>'he matter came more.within the scope of the Chamber of Commerce.
Comr; Bullock considered some of the matters should1 be discussed, particularly whistling at crossings, and the need of two men on the engine, He did not think the Board had power to shift the. line, but he considered the matter should b 3 referred to tlie Public Works Department. Comr. Morgan considered it would be a disadvantage to shift the railway to the .riverfront, as was the case in Wanganui, : . :
Comr, Hogg said some. ; of the, suggestions had weight, .and should be referred to the proper authorities. Comr. Morgan said thje drivers could not fire the engines arid look after the crossinges at well. , '
On' Comr. Bullock's motion it was decided to refer the matter to the Pubtic Works Department.
