Miss Cruickshank, Principal of the Wangajmi Girls' College, returned to toAvn last night. Mr W. A. Veitch, M.P., who has been recently m the North with the "Parliamentary touring party, has returned to Wanganui. Uhe name of Reginald Lindsay McNiven, second son of Mr 11. G. MciNven, was omitted from the list of names of the Wanganui quota of the 26th Reinforcements, which ielt for Trentham on Monday. Mrs Templeton, a Adsitor from Southland, is on a visit to her daughter, Mrs Windelburn, Hatnck St. Extension. Mrs Templeton recalls the. fact that she travelled by the steamer Stormbird forty-two years ago, the vessel being then in the Bluff-Duuedin trade.

Among those drowned in the Laurentic was Engineer-Lieut. Commander G.eorge Robert Rutiedgc, second son of ex-Sergeant Rutledge, of Lyttetton, who was for many years one of the best-known police officers in the Dominion. Lieut, Rutledge, who was 39 years of age, leaves a widow, who formerly lived in Kaiapoi, but is now resident in Liverpool. The many friends of Mr. Charles. Richards will regret to hear of his death at the hospital yesterday, at the early age of 36 years. The deceased, who was a son of Mr. Simon Richards, was a 'native of Wanganui, and was well known and highly esteemed. For some years prior to Ms death he wa« a member of the delivery staff of the " Chronicle." To the bereaved relatives we exterid our sincere sympathy.
