The first Wellington Military Appeal Board continued its sittings yesterday.

The appeal of Robert Ernest Sopp, farm manager, Kakatahi, was dismissed, the appellant being granted exemption until April 1. Art*ur Ernest Kinsey was granted exemption until March 4.

An appeal by William Maddox, aged 42, farmer, was adjourned to the next sitting, to enable appellant to appear before' the Medical Board.

The appeal of Arthur Thomas (*eo Head, labourer, was dismissed.

Sidney John'.Margetts, striker, had volunteered and had been rejected. His appeal was adjourned in order that iie might appear before the MeAical Board.

Edmund A. Freethy, engineer and surveyor, for whom Mr "Hussey appeared, was exempted until March 4th. Bertram H. Preston, shepherd and drover, Cpper Aramoho, was over the military age, and his appeal was allowed.

Leonard George Paul, draper, who had previously enlisted, was granted exemption to March 4. ■; Percy Herbert Fowler, farmer, Wiritoa, appealed on the ground of public interest. He was exempted until the Ist April.

William Jamies Flynn, shepherd, Castleciiff, appealed on the ground of undue hardship. Appellant stated that two brothers had been killed in the war, and another had been invalided home.

The case was adjourned until the next sitting.

The case of Frederick C Allpress was referred to the Medical Board.

Frank Vivian Dean, farmer, Wanganui River, appealed on the ground of undue, hardship, and asked for an extension of time. Appellant said he was 26 years of age^ and was farming 2064 acres with two partners, near Pipiriki. On account of work to be done, he asked for exemption until the end of March. He was allowed until March 4th.

William Higson, driver, Wanganni, who had three brothers on active service, was not called, as he had been rejected as medically unfit. George A. McCulloch (Mr Currie), single, aged 36 years, stated that he was milking 72 cows on 204 acres at Kai Iwi. His parents were aged, and a brother was going into camp .to-day. He did not consider his brother and sisters >could work the farm. Appellant was chairman of directors of the Kai Iwi dairy factory. Appellant was exempted until April 29. Thomas W. Naesmith was allowed to March 4th, and Alfred Ogier was ordered to go before the Medical Board. ■ .

The appeal of Albert Edwards was allowed, the appellant being over the age.

Decision was given in the case of Gordon S. McDonald. He was exempted to March 4th.
