Yesterday the Wanganui Councj Council decided, on the recommendation of the Ferry Committee, that the, tender of B. Palmer for a lease of the ferry from year to year for £2 10s a week and the takings be ac<epted. • .
Cr. Poison said it was the strongest argument for a bridge.
Cr. Kcss said the committee did its best under the circumstances. There was one tender on'y to select from! It was correct that the ferry cost more than it should, but if it was closed traffic would suffer.
Cr. Robinson 6aid the time had almost arrived to build a Itfidge. Tk;e two counties now had to pay out JElof a yeafr.
