NATIONAL REGISTRATION
OFFICIAL ARRANGEMENTS
OFFERS FROM VOLUNTEERS
By Telegraph—Special to '"Chronicle." WELLINGTON, October 7.
The arrangements being made for National Registration were briefly described in the House to-day by the Prime Minister who was asked by Mr. Anstey if he would give volunteers who were unfit for military service an opportunity of serving the country by assisting in the necessary houee to house caiivas.
Mr. Massey said that preparations for this census were being made by the Registrar-General. In the case of the larger centres information would be obtained by a house to house visiting by volunteers or otherwise, but certainly by competent men. In the more scattered districts the information would be gathered through the Post Office, a fortnight being allowed for the return of the papers. The Government had already received many offers of assistance and the RegistrarGeneral had intimated that he would be very glad to accept them.
