At the Supreme Court this morning. Alfred William Aldred. convicted at Oamaru of arson, was brought up for sentence. The jury found Aldred guilty, but the point was reserved for the Appeal Court ias to whether he was mentally responsible for his -notions. The Court confirmed the verdict, and Judge Sim sentenced tho prisoner to srx months, to be after-wards sent for reformative treatment for a period not exceeding five years.
