TENNIS
The Wanganui Tennis--Association's annual tournament was continued yesterday, when four of the contests were brought to a close. The weather in the morning was wet, and play was hindered, but the afternoon was tine, and the games wero watched with interest by a good crowd.
In the Men's Championship -Singles, tho prize fell to Nicholson, of New Plymouth, who defeated Buttcrworth of Wanganui after an excitftig contest. Mesdames Cooper and Nagle won the Ladies' Championship Doubles. The Men's Handicap Singles A grade was annexed by Addison, who defeated Morrin 50-48 while the Handicap Singles. B Grade was won by ■Scrivener.
Tho tournament was successfully conducted. Some complain I was made vosterday at the scratching of players, 'but this was due to the players not being in attendance in time. Tho weather hampered play somewhat. Much of the success of the tourney is due to the Hon. Secretary, Mr. Cyril Gohlshury. Miss Long was in charge of the tea-rooms. Tho games will bo finished to-day.
