The thickest portion of the crowd aseambled on the.grandstand and in the enclosure. Here the Maoris treated the spectators to hakas and poi dances. Her© the Garrison Band, Tinder Conductor Wade, played the following delightful programme, which enlivened the proceedings:— iMarch, " Newton"; valse, " Luna" ; intermezzo, "My Lady Gracious"; selection, " Count of Luxemburg" ; valse, "TeresoMia"; fantasia, "Irish Melodies"; selection, "Sunshine Girl"; Indian. Romanza, "Ramona"; valse, "Visio nof Salome"; (fantasia> "Darkies' Dreamland." Mrs Fisher's Band, which had throughout the election campaign, and after the election had closed, displayed energy, enthusiasm and good feeling that were only equalled by the Maoris, contributed some humorous selections.

The scene throughout the afternoon was of the liveliest. The loud shouts of the enthusiastic masters of the various compeititions. who were "bent on cozening the maximum amount from the pockets of each and every citizen, resounded continuously.
