HON. FISHER AT PONGAROA
PQNGOROA. March 22. The Hon. F. M. B; Fisher arrived afc Pongaroa, via Eketahuna, on Saturday night, accompanied by Mr R. J. Holmea, chief Government marine engineer, and Messrs Sykes and Escott, M.P's. He was deputationised and banqueted. Ho received a hearty reception by a large • gathering, despite the fact that some | fanatics who had determined that he should, not be heard had written to him anonymously intimating that neither Mr Herdman nor himself would be heard till after the elections were over. Mr Fislier alluding to the recent meeting in Wellington, said he "was practically howled down by about 150 degenerates by i. whom the meeting was controlled. These tactics would have the opposite effect ', io that intended by the "Red Feds" ~ . and would strengthen the position of the ~ i Government.
