HUNGER STRIKES.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF LAW
AND MEDICINE
("Times" and "Sydney Sun" Services.) Received March 22, 6.15 p.m." LONDON, March 21.
The Medical Legal Society decided Mercier's proposal that, doctors should be considered not to be responsible for the death of a prisoner I'efusing to take substantial meals offered It was declared that there was an, obligation on a gaoler to see that a prisoner was properly fed sooner than allow a water and hunger striker to become helpless. A doctor refusing to apply the resources of science to preserve life would be chargeable with murder. -
