A riot occurred at ' Southbend, __ Indiana, during which seven were ijeriously injured and nearly a hundred hurt. When twenty-fire policemen tried to aid the Sheriff to carry out the order of Judge Fink that the Rev. Stanislaus Gruza be placed in charge of St. Cafeimus Polish Raman Catholic Church, a" mob of 200 men and women, after fighting two hours, prevented the efforts of the Rev. Gruza to possess the church. The Fire Department was called out to help the police, but this was unavailing, the mob threatening to cut the hose. Rev. Gruza was appointed to the dhurch a yea,r ago. The people objected and asked the bishop to send another priest. This request was refused. The case was heard at court and the judge ordered Rev. Gruza to have possession.
