IMPORTANT LEGISLATION
(United Press Association—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 14. An amendment to the Burnett Immigration. Bill, designed to exclude Chinese, Japanese and Hindu labourers, lias been adopted by the House Immigration Committee. The Bill is practically identical with that vetoed' by Mr Tart because it provided for a literacy test. The Bill is now ready for the consideration of the House. ' Pacific Coast members tried to insert an .:rmendme:it burning all Asiatics, but the other imemibajrs a-oijteated thaH proposal and passed only one amendment relating to the admission of labourers. The mensure provides for the exclusion of persons -who cannot, 'under tho existing Law, bocome citizens of America by naturalisation unless otherwise provided for by fl^rcsmonts cr conventions.
