LOCAL CUP COMPETITION.
WANGANUI A v. WANGANUI B
On account of the Collegiate School having adjourned for tho summer vacation, only one cup match was played last Saturday afternoon, this being the Wanganui A and B match. Tlie wentlier was very uncertain, heavy showers sending the players pavilionwards on more than one occasion.
lEach side (completed its first innings on tho previous Saturday, the A's having a lead of 28 runs. Last Saturday the A's started their second; effort, l>ut with the exception of . Johnson 22, Sanders 22 not out, Holland; 17. and Tracy 13. they made a poor showing against Hussey and Co., the innings j realising only W). Hussey secured hsilf tho wickets for 30 runs. This left the ]i\s with 118 to yet to win, and an hour and three-quarters to do it in. To tho general surprise they failed, and xho A's got a three point win by four runs after a most exciting finish. The IV.s put together 113, of which Oi'ton ■10 and Hussey 30 wero the. best contributors, their exhibition being a splendid one.
