PRESBYTERIAN LADIES' COLLEGE.
A DUNEDIN PROPOSAL.

DTJNEDIN, OcC. 7. At a mee^uig of the Dunedin Presbytery, the Rev A. Whyte brought forward a proposal from Mr s ISfisbet (widow; of Dr Nisbet), and Miss Ross, to assist in establishing a Presbyterian Ladies College in Dunedin. The proposal was contained in a letter: "We offer ourselves and our establishment to the Presbyterian Church on such terms as would be deemed just and equitable.'* The establishment referred to is a Girls'" College with its home for boarders,. "Archerfiald." Mr Whyte said that' these Jl'adioi3 were prepared' to p3ajc& £300 at the disposal of the church at six per cent., without any security except the honour of the church. The idea was to secure 20 acres or -there— ah outs near Dunedin, apd to inaugurate a, scheme that, when completed, would cost about £30,000, hut oould he begun with subscription list of £5000. A committee was appointed to consider the offer and report to the Presbytery.
