CANTERBURY (3) v. BULLER (2).
Buller broke away from the opening bully and! pressed down urn Canterbury's circle. The red and blacks (Canterbury) returned and held the advantage during the interesting play which followed. Miss Kruse passed to Miss M. Pearce, whose attempt went wide. Miss Greenland and Miss A. Hall came away and rushed. Canterbury defended strongly, and from a corner hit a scramble ensued, and Miss A. Hall found the net. Buller 1, Canterbury nil. Play returned to Buller's territory, Buller defending and shooting* behind From Buller's 25. Miss G. Barr carried the ball clown and shot to centre. Miss Kruse accepted, and scored for Canterubry, making the honours easy. From half-way Miss P. Pearce, with a series of hits, brought the leather into Buller's circle. Miss Wilson saved. A minor accident interrupted play, and on resumption, Buller came away with a fine rush, and attacked hotly. Mis* Cade caught the ball in her hands, and averted a good shot. From a series of corner hits Miss Barr accepted, and dribbled clown the line, and Buller returned and shot behind. From play in iieutral territory Canterbury attacked with a fine series of cross passos. Miss Greenland intercepted, and passed to Miss A. Halo to Miss figan. whoso shot was stopped by Miss Cavo. Bailor pressed n&ain. and a fine attempt miscarried by inches. The venue of play changed to midnoVL and Bnller was again pressed. .Several hits should have found tho net, but for tho sound defence and faulty shooting. to Miss Egan, whose shot was again turned aside by the guardian. Buller continued to have all the best of the game for some minutes. Mrs. Hale missed a good chance, and Miss Homer accepted. She piloted the ball down the line and centred to Miss P. Pearce, who with a brilliant shot landed Canterbury's second goal.
At the commencement of the second moiety Canterbury had the advantage for a time, a:ul up and down play followed. Miss Cox mulled a good pass from Miss Greenland, and Canterbury had the upper hand. Miss Homer dribbled up, passed to Miss Kruse, to Miss M. Pearce, who shot a nice goal. Canterbury 3, Buller 1. Miss Greenland led a fine attack for Buller, and a series of shots was made without result. Buller pressed down, and from ■a passing rush Miss Cox scored. Buller 2, Canterbury 3. Rapid exchanges ensued, play being of a very even nature. Canterbury attacked, and had Buller defending. The position immediately changed, and Buller shot behind out of bounds. Exciting play interested the spectators, Buller carrying off some fine attacks, but failed to get home. Canterbury took a hand and charged down, but play was carried back. Canterbury made some awful attempts to score, and the chances were with Buller. The game soon afterwards terminated with the scores, Canterbury 3, Buller 2.
