TJio cattle -were all practically of female sorts, dairy cmv.'; and heifers, store and fat com.,. There was a. good attendance of buyers,
and with very few exceptions all lines came quited at full market rates. Quotations:^—Cattle: Calves* 14s. to 195., weanei's 395. to £2 Bs.. low condition empty heifers £2 Is., empty 18-months Jersey cross "heifers £3 10s. to £3 19s. Holstein cross iiiefers, springing £7, springing lieifers (good) £6 10s. to £7 10s., springing heifers £4 15s. to £5 ]45., heifers in calf £3 17s. 6d. to £4 10s., store cows £2 12s. 6d. to £3, forward cows £3 6's. to £3 12s. 6d., fat and forward cows £4 Bs. 6d. to £4 18s.. fat cows £5 10s. to £6 12s. 6d., and to £8 55., dairy oows, springing £4 10s. to £6 10s.. cows in milk £4 17s 6d. to £5, bulls £5 103.
Tlio disporsnl sale of Mrs. Cripps' herd of 5U dairy cows and heifers takes place at Rapanui on Thursday next, the 24th inst. Tlio herd is a particularly good one, having been carefully selected and bred up by Mrs. Cripps (who is giving up dairying) for about 20 years, and the sale is a good opportunity for those dairy farmers in search of really high-elas stock. A brake running to the, sale connects Avith the North train at Wcstmere, both in tho morning and evening, for the convenience of buyers.
