WELLINGTON, JuJy 10. Iho statement made by Mr.'Witiy during his speech in the present debate to tho effect that the present Government attained office as a result of an arrangement with the Hon. T. Mackpnzio (lato Prime Minister and now High Commissioner) was referred to by the-Prime Minister this evening. Mi- iMassey declared emphatically that thero was no bargaining such as suggested.
Mr. Witty: Ono of your own men said .so.
Mr. Massey: I know nothing about it. Mr. Mackenzie was never approached by anyone on our sido of the House, and ho never approached us. That I should say this is only fair to an absent man a^d a member of the opposite .sklo of the House.

Mr. 'Massey repeated that nothing in tho way of bargainjner took place. There was no mention of the appointment of Mr. Mackenzie as TTio-h Commissioner prior to the division taking place in the House.
