CHILDREN BORN WITHIN StX WEEKS OF BACH OTHER.
The London papers roport an extraordinary case of childbirth at Barrow. Hear CHtheroc. On February. 24th tho •ivifo of Thomas Pickup, a calico printer, gave birth to a boy, who is now alive ami doing well. The baby w;as duly registered under the ixme of Herbert, ana maternity benefit was paid under the Insurance Act.
Iliy mother later resumed her lumser hoici duties, but on April 4th -unexpectedly gave birth to a second child, a girl, who is also alivi- jand doing well. Both children- are apparently quite- healthy, l'ho doctor states that he is unable to explain, the unusual circumstances of the case. Application for maternity benefit in respect of the second child is to be .made, and there iis much curiosity as to the manner in ..which the Insurance Commissioners- will' iso-lye the singular problem,presented to them, -for Trtnternity "benc-fiL-is given only once for twins.
