GISBORNE, Dec. 23
A heavy sea was running in the bay all day to-day, and the steamer Regulus, which arrived from Westport was unable to make the harbour, being compelled to take shelter under Young Nick's Head until the weather moderates. The Rosamond, from Auckland, via Tolago Bay, p*ut Fack to Tola go Bay and is expected to come on when the weather calms a little. The ferry steamer Takapuna, which was timed to leave for Napier at 7 p.m., was bailed up for the first time since the service was inaugurated, and is now timed to sail at 3 "a.m., but it is doubtful if she will get away even then.
