BOXING.

DENNY MURPHY DEFEATS FLEMING.

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "Chronicle.")

AUCKLAND, Dec. 23

At the Northern Boxing Association's carnival to-night, Denny Murphy, of Wellington, defeated Maurice Fleming, of Australia, on points in 15 rounds, in a contest for a purse of £80. The bout was a very tame one, neither man showing his best form. Murphy was much cleverer, and Fleming's only chance of winning lay in a knock-out.
