OHRISTCHTJRCH, Dec. 23, % The City Council to-night gave authority for. .preliminary, steps to be taken respecting the raising of a loan of £120,000 in connection with the Lake Coleridge electrical scheme. '
The Board of Governors of the Canterbury College1 has decided to establish a course in architecture, provided satisfactory arrangements can be.made. The Board also/ decided iri connection with the public library that/in order to place the /institution on a, satisfactory, basis the whole staff be giv;en three months' notice, with .the;.right to apply' for a future position, .and that application be called for the position of chief librarian at a- salary of £300.
'The Hospital Board decided to make temporary arrangements for :a dental ward.
Following unon the overcrowding of His Majesty's Theatre on Sunday night on the occasion of the municipal organ recital, one of the city inspectors to-day laid an information against the Mayor. Councillors and citizens for- a broach of tho municipal by-laws.
