SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 25. Four more convictions of the crime of .murder in the first degree have been recorded in New York in connection with the; slaying' of the gambler Herman Rosen thai. Becker, the lieutenant of police who organised the crime, will in a few days have as companions in .the "death house" _at Sing' Sing the. delectatble quartette who were in the automobile from which Rosenihal was shot. These four men/ who were tried together, and were found guilty after an hour's deliberation by the jury, are: —■ Frank .Seidenschue ("Whitey" Lewis), .Frank 'Giroficf (" Dago Frank), Louis .Rosenburg ("Lefty Loui-e"). arid Harry Horowitz ("Gyp the Blood,") .The-tes-timony against them was practically the samo as thatf against Becker. Four other men, Rose, Vallon, Webber and Schepps, all of whom .admitted guilty knowledge of _i?fe'foul 'murder., turned State's evidence and 'accused the four defendants. The, Jatter, on the other hand, accused the informants. Of the seven mcii indicted for the murder, there is left but one to be tried. He is Jack ■ Sullivan, "King of the Newsboys." William Shapiro.; driver of the "murder car," whowas<)n© of the seven indicted, will not be. tried/ the District Attorney sayina : ;he did not regard him. as an accomplice., and that he would move for his discharge. "This means the beginning of the end of gang rule in New York," remarked District Attorney Whitman after the conviction of the four. "From now on this office will' push the case of every man arrested as being a gangster. They will receive no mercy, and public opinion that bas been aroused" By the killing of Herman Roserithal will support the prosecuting officer in his endeavours to remove these pests from the city." ■ The penalty for murder in J- 1-- first degree in. New* York is death by electrocution, and unless the Appeal Courts reverae the verdict, this well" be the fate of the four^jmen convicted together, as well/as of Becker. The quartette, whoso testimony brought about the convictions (Rose, Webber. Vpl]n n arid Schepps), will now be released from custody.
