WAIRARAPA NOTES.
A lino of ewes sold privately in Masterton last week at 265. per head. Tho prospects of the Wairarapa farmer during tho coming season are very bright. Produce is bringing a good price, while it is expected that the season will open 4nth lambs at 14s. per head, and shorn wethers at 18s. No Jess than eight buyers from outside districts arc at present ih Wairarapa in quest, of stock. Four of the buyers are from Canterbury.
Most of the big flocks in the Wairarapa have had a, return of one. hundred per cent, of lambs. The lambing throughout the Wairarapa has been better than for some years past. It has been very noticeable that very few lambs havedied at docking this'year. Usually the mortality at this period is very heavy. It is estimated that about twenty new varieties of wheat and oats are beinp; tried by farmers in th© Wairarapa this season. A number of new varieties of maizo are also being experimented with.
