Tlie holiday passed off without accident. The weather was fine, though somewhat cold. The Trades and Labour Council's picnic at Motukarara. was well attended, and the bicycle races at Lancaster Park were well patronised. Largo numbers visited Wainoni Park, where, in addition to many other attractions, there was a balloon ascent by Cant. Jona-shen. which was successful, though the balloonist did not reach the 6000 feet altitude that he intended to reach.
